The Written Image
The work in this show is appropriately disjointed. I prefer exploring concepts and ideas rather than being dedicated to the exploration of specific techniques. I have often used imagery in my work but as I was developing this show I was attracted to the idea of text functioning as the image and its presentation as the driver of content. Thus, memory is foggy, ego is brilliant, love is damaged and the word JERK intersects your mirrored reflection. This is all displayed on a ribbon of disjointed text and images. Moments of clarity emerge from the messy calendar of our life experiences. Some events are archival, imbedded in your psyche, others ethereal and fade away with time. All piece in this group are cone 5 porcelain with underglazes and glazes on ink jet prints.
